Gifts for yourself

One of my favorite holiday traditions is buying myself gifts! After Christmas, I spend some time thinking about what I didn’t receive that would really brighten the season. The thing missing under the tree? I’m buying it for myself. Something special to start the year with sparkle? I’ll get that, too! A tool that will help me thrive? I’m all in.

Here are a few gift ideas for for yourself this year, if that feels like the right thing to do.

Brooklinen Silk Pillowcase. Call me basic, but great linens are key to self-care in my world. I love this pillowcase, as well as the linen bedding from Brooklinen, flannel from Garnet Hill, and sateen from The Company Store. Don’t forget the Brooklinen weighted blanket for complete relaxation. PS Ask me about individual duvets to save a marriage.

PowerSheets. Every year, I use PowerSheets to guide my goal-setting and little-by-little progress. I love notebooks and goal-setting guides, and I’ve never found one I liked better.

Vision Board kit. I love collage, but if a lot of scissors and mess turns you off, try this elegant Dream Plan Do kit on Amazon, recommended by Megan Smiley.

Sweaters. I have a client who loves a good waffle knit, and I’m right there with her. Texture is a lovely way to make comfort tangible and reconnect with our senses. Vetta makes beautiful cotton sweaters in chunky waffle knit, and Jenni Kayne is famous for cashmere. If you have a favorite, do that.

Beautiful cookware, or whatever inspires and motivates you to play. For me this year, that’s this wildflower loaf pan from Sur La Table.

Books, books books. All the books. This year on my reading list, I’ve added One Bold Move a Day by my friend Shanna Hocking, How to be a Badass Lawyer by Claire E. Parsons, Boundary Boss by Terri Cole, Cosmos by Carl Sagan, and a whole stack of cookbooks for inspiration.

Plants. I’m pretty well-stocked these days, but I love plants. I have a garden outside lots of easy-to-grow potted plants indoors. Caring for them is a meditation for me. They bring life and green and inspiration indoors even in the dead of winter. If you’re not sure where to start, grab a pothos or a snake plant from The Sill.

Happy Light. If you miss the sun in winter, you’re not alone. And a simple desktop light can make a huge difference. I use mine October through February and it keeps me going in the dark months.

Coaching, of course! I would be honored to support you in the new year, and I can think of no better way to honor your current and future self. Apply now to work with me in the new year. Make a commitment to future growth and self-compassion and embrace possibility with support and encouragement on your side.
